For the last two weeks, Katie has been on a work experience placement with us, learning about how we work as a PR, marketing and design agency. Below, she has shared her thoughts on what she has learned over the last few weeks.

Over my three years at uni studying PR, we looked into the theory of PR, but my two-week internship at Chapter II allowed me to see how a PR agency works in reality with their clients and this gave me an insight into what it takes to do the job.
Entering the office on Monday morning, I received a warm welcome from the team, and it was all hands on deck from the first second. Within minutes, I was sitting in on client meetings, followed by a discovery session debrief for a new client. Being involved in all aspects of the business made me realise the amount of work and layers which are involved in a project- from creativity, branding, strategy and solving potential issues.
My contribution to the team involved social media planning with posts and caption ideas, branding strategies, networking opportunities and events, plus captivating press release writing. It was a whirlwind two weeks and made me realise the full scope of PR in business.
Being invited into meetings and discussions from day one gave me a sense of belonging and inclusion in the team, and I got to participate in a huge range of activities, from brainstorming sessions, where we discussed strategies and content ideas, to attending networking events with the team.
Seeing the relationship and impact Chapter II has on their clients at these events was very professional and reflected that they value their clients, creating a personal understanding with them. What really stood out to me was how strategic and planned Chapter II is when making its decisions. Everything is thought out and crafted specifically for their clients and their audiences.
During my two weeks at Chapter II, I've put my theory into practice to make an impact in a professional setting. I found the team to be extremely welcoming, and this helped create an environment where I could feel confident to develop my personal skills as well as my business acumen. The team places importance on relationships and connections within the company as well as with their clients, which is what PR is all about.
Thank you to the Chapter II team for giving me a great experience of working life.
